Bathroom LED light / extractor combo

I've purchased this type of unit in the past and found it to work well. Hence, when I needed another unit for an en suite refurb, I've have again purchased a similar kit. This time, it will be to provide secondary, independent lighting over the shower cubicle, as well as extraction.
The kit comes with most of the necessary components supplied. However, there's no anti backdraught flap / valve (which is the reason for 4 stars). That's a fair enough omission as one is not always required. However, in my case. I'm venting through the roof and need something to prevent a cold draught blowing straight through into my otherwise nice warm facility.
I have yet to fit this kit (builder delays!) so cannot comment on the noise level or fan extraction efficiency of this particular unit but if it works as well as the other one I have fitted elsewhere, it should be fine.
I have got the version that allows the fan to be wired up for overrun and the time setting is adjustable (or can be disabled). For the price paid for this unit, it's a reasonable buy, with the only additional cost being for a suitable "non return valve".
The previous one I bought was fitted in a guest area and has had only periodic usage. Hopefully, this new unit will have a reasonable lifecycle as it will be in everyday use. Time will tell.

Air filter

After one year of running the whole house ventilation system I noticed black soot on all the air outlets. I found this is coming from air intake three floors up! So I’ve put the air filter in and expect it will need washing every year.

Only did half the job

The flat duct for through the wall was spot on, as was the fixing for the inside of the wall to receive the round drier hose. But the duct cover for the outside wall had a round fixing rather that a square one so I couldn’t attach it. I had to use the old cover. So as I say, the kit only did half of the job.

Fire grills

I’ve changed all six air outlets at this student house to Fire grills. The property has a good commercial fire alarm system, but the board doesn’t have the necessary contacts for a relay to stop the fans when alarms are sounding. Now at least the air will stop in the burning room! They were very easy to fit too.

Robocop 2024

Once receiving this order, I immediatately put it to work.
This aluminium duct being all I needed to complete my transformation to build my new Robocop suit, ready to fight crime and injustice on the mean streets of London.
Probably not knife or bullet proof & not even a cop, this ambitous task was completeds on a budget of £15.36 and half a twix bar.
Beware wrong doers, for Robocop is on the prowl - your moce creep!
