Seems to do the job.

I actually fitted this halfway along the short duct of a straightforward wall-mounted kitchen extract fan (entry-level Manrose 150mm fan). Considering this is not really its intended purpose, I have been very happy with it.

It occasionally knocks when I shut the door and hence create a vacuum, but generally is less of a nuisance than the cheap flaps built into the back of some fans. If it were harder to open it would never bang, but then it would restrict airflow, so I cannot really see how any such device can avoid this entirely short of containing an expensive hydraulic damper, hence not deducting a star in this case.

The resistance to airflow is not very great and you can in fact make it easier to open by rotating the duct connector so that the pivot is not at the horizontal point (this makes it more likely to bang in windy weather or when doors are opened, but less resistant to airflow) so some fine-tuning of performance is possible.

A basic, simple, and elegant design. Hopefully it will last well, but that depends on the composition of the plastic.

Back Draft Shutter

Bought this to replace one that had two flaps with a spring to keep it closed but it clattered with gusts, this one doesn't. Great value
